Air India’s Losses Escalate

Issue: 2 / 2018

According to figures provided in Parliament by the Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Jayant Sinha, the state-owned carrier Air India registered a loss of 57.65 billion in the financial year ending March 31, 2017. This was 19.29 billion higher than 38.36 billion loss suffered in the previous financial year. The final figures are considerably higher than the estimates released earlier on. As per officials of the national carrier Air India, the escalation in losses is possibly due to certain non-disclosures by the company in the provisional figures.
